We woke up pre-dawn, the red hue of a sun rising just beginning to spill its colors on a dark earth.
Our mission on this day—to ascend the volcano San Cristobal—lay before us in the horizon. Its silhouette in the distance appeared like any other mountain…though we knew that climbing it would be much more than your average hike.

God sent me and my ship, USS Normandy, to aid in the disaster relief in Haiti. While not being able to directly be a part, just being so close to the hurt has brought on a flood of thoughts and shared pain.
It is a wonderful day to be a part of the great family of God, through Christ!
Despite giving up a resolve to accomplish everything within my grasp, God still provided the best of life. It seems that the more we stop striving, the more the Lord is able to step in and work.
I have been in Madrid now for two days, linking up with Alex (his name changed to protect his identity), a missionary sent here to minister specifically to the Moroccan population of Madrid, the majority of which are Muslim, though a portion (how much or little is uncertain) connect to the faith more culturally than religiously.
The never-ending journey of life that God has set me on has now taken me to Spain, where I am meeting with local missionaries and then will be touring around with my wife; the first part being sort of a spiritual retreat and the second part being sort of a romantic retreat. Both of which hopefully pleasing to the Lord.

I was able to see the compassion of Christ move through me and others as we fed Norfolk needy barbecue and the saving message of Jesus. It was a beautiful day to see the Lord work and link people of all types together as one.
