WALKING WITH GOD
Being Faithful in 2010
Moving with God as He Directs - Are you Ready?
- Adam R. Cole // January 8, 2010
2010 has more than set in already. As we steadily progress through this new year, at least for me, there is a strong sense of Him guiding, shaping through the next steps of His desired plans for this new year. I think He does that in all our hearts, and with that in mind, there is quite a road ahead to see these through…though we don’t do it alone, for the Lord is indeed with us. I think this idea of moving through the things in the heart, especially in the context of a brand new year, bodes the same for the world as well, where wars and famine continue to plague our globe; the world, as in the collective of people that share this earth, in this same sense must take steps as He leads to alleviate the ills that continue to spoil this earth. Granted, not everyone is following God and therefore that process is often skewed by those that have different motives of greed and power. Still, the Lord has placed each of us in a specific spot with a specific thing He has for us, to be that salt and light in a crumbling world.
How God wants to shape us and move us, how He is indeed with us to the end has been a constant theme of my life, and why I am always referring to the ‘journey.’ Because I know that God has plans for us…and will slowly but surely see those plans through, if we let Him. That is the idea in Exodus 32-33 that details a conversation between Moses and God, where Moses pleads for forgiveness after the people worship a golden calf, and then politely requests that God go with them, to almost literally show His presence as they continued to journey to the Promised Land. Bottom line: we must ask Him in—and then be ready to move with Him wherever He directs us. I encourage each of you to mediate and simply ask: God, where do you have me going? Then ask yourself are you willing to hear His answer. Please pray over these specific items: - For Kenya, a country wrought by famine and drought for much of 2009 is now fighting off tragic floods that hit the country at the start of the new year. - One billion suffer from hunger. - Tajikistan has left hundreds, perhaps thousands, of villagers homeless. - Violence and bloodshed in Iran – may they see that Christ is the way to peace.
