WALKING WITH GOD
Prayers for Haiti
He has the Master Plans
- Adam Cole // January 15, 2010
My heart continues to go out to Haiti right now, to go before the Lord and pray for the children so scared, so hungry; all the people trapped, all those that are waiting eagerly to get medical attention.
It has been three days since a major earthquake hit Haiti, devastating its infrastructure and sending it into a state of pandemonium. In this time, I have been sifting through a number of emotions: a desire to be there, of a desire to do something, yet feeling trapped because I can’t simply ‘just go’ and jump in to assist the need; embarrassment and somewhat shame for my own security and wealth in the face of such a poor place—which has become strikingly evident from this earthquake; feeling selfish that my conversations with God are often centered around ‘where are you taking me’ and not enough about ‘how is the rest of this world doing, Lord?’, ‘how are the Haiti’s of this world surviving.’
God always has the master plans. I say this for Haiti and to share how He is personally weaving me into the fold of this relief effort. The ship I am part of, the USS Normandy, was sent to Haiti to help assist efforts – how and what we will be doing, I cannot say for certain. We are transiting the big blue at this time.
Dear Lord, we are broken by the travesty in Haiti, but You console us as You console everyone of those affected there. Move within the aid workers there. Move within the people there to give them hope and restored life. May Haiti be rebuilt with You as the chief cornerstone. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
