PRAYER + PRAISE
God's Will Complete the Good Work Began in Us
- Adam R. Cole // November 21, 2008
…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. —Philippians 1: 6
This verse in Paul’s letter to the people of Philippi, he is writing from jail to encourage them in their faith, saying that he is praying for them and encouraging in the pursuit of gospel spreading. Thus, his words in verse 6 can be interpreted in two ways, 1.) as a God’s salvation – that it will be perfected in all believers 2.) that ‘work’ we do for the gospel, enduring process of spreading the truth of Christ as savior will carry on triumphantly until Christ’s return.
Either way we interpret it, we must realize that God is always working in us, from the beginning of His salvation in us. Christ did not just rescue us from our sins and stop there. He wanted to shape us, mold us, make us more of a worthy offering in Him and for Him. As well, the work we do, the extension of our gifts in the world, He will work in that too. Many of you see this in your lives, the changes He is doing in your soul and in the fruits that are bearing because of your confidence and faith in Him.
I encourage you thus: realize that he is not done with you, continue on and let him grow up, in the way a tree grows tall, grows branches, and ultimately bears fruit.
Praise: That God’s work is never finished in us.
Prayer: That we stay close to the Lord and allow Him in to do his righteous work in us and through us.
Prayer for Today: Dear Lord, we thank You for this life – for each and every day. We live for You and You alone. We know that You have a work to do in us, still, a great work. Let us be obedient to the things You lay in front of us, the challenges, the people that cross of our paths, so that we may become more chiseled vessels for Your glory. We give ourselves to You, O Lord, for Your perfect work. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
